A North Region Junior Development Series tournament was played in Cairns on the weekend of May 26^th and 27^th.  The tournament was directed by Tennis Queensland Community Tennis Officer, Barry Weare.

According to Barry, “This tournament was one of the largest JDS events in recent years in Cairns and it was great to see so many local faces out on court.  A special mention must go to all those participants who travelled to Cairns (from as far away as Sarina)…thank you for supporting the event!”

Barry thanked Alan Harris for organising the tournament, saying “Alan’s work and commitment to the JDS certainly does not go unnoticed.”  Barry also thanked Steve Merker and Darrin Tennent for their assistance and experience during the tournament, as it helped make the weekend run smoothly.

Finally, to all the players and parents…the JDS tournaments would not be the events they are without your continued support.  Please continue to encourage all players to participate in the JDS, as some of the relationships the children make, will form friendships for life.
