Samantha Stosur is flying the flag for Queensland and Australia as the only Aussie left in the main draw of  the 2011 US Open.

World No.10 Stosur  defeated Russia’s Maria Kirilenko in the fourth round to secure a spot in the quarter finals. 

The match, just completed, saw Stosur win the first and third sets with an epic 15-17 loss in the second set tie break- the longest ever recorded tie-breaker in women’s Grand Slam history. 

Stosur will now meet the winner of Sabine Lisicki and Vera Zvonareva.

After a dream run at Wimbledon, Gold Coaster Bernard Tomic was outclassed in the second round to 27th seed Martin Cilic.

Also competing in the Girls Junior US Open is Quenslander Ashleigh Barty. The 2011 Junior Wimbledon Champion will verse Carol Zhao from Canada.
