30 August 2011 | Tennis Queensland

Tennis Queensland has continued the long association with the ICPA Sports Camp in Clemont where approx 120 children each year get the chance to come along and be involved in all the various sports coaching. Central Region Community Tennis Officer Ken Hick has been involved with the camp for well over a decade the 2011 Camp he was joined by Tennis Qld Community Tennis Officer Graham Hick and Bernard Anderson (newphew of Mal Anderson).

This camp is huge with all children living in at the Clermont Showgrounds and this creates a great atmosphere with the children split into 8 groups. Each group selects a name, builds a flag and develops a war cry. The groups have 2 carers who attend all the sports sessions and looks after all the needs of the children from breakfast through to bedtime.

Another group of parents and friends also look after all the other camps needs such as the awesome meals each day with Breakfast, Morning Tea, Lunch, Afteroon Tea and Dinner. Other chores include Transport, Camp Nurse, Camp Leader, Volunteer Co-ordinator, Coach Co-ordinator, Disco DJ, Video and Camera person.

The children who attend this camp and some of the best behaved children and this is by far the best camp of this type anywhere.
