26 July 2011 | Tennis Queensland

Tennis Queensland would like to welcome Barry Weare, our new Community Tennis Officer for the Far North Region, who will be based in Cairns.

Barry comes to us from Queensland Cricket where he spent eight years as a Regional Cricket Manager, first in Brisbane and more recently in the Far North. He has also worked with the Queensland Government as a mobile athlete presenter, where he assisted in the delivery of the Queensland Government’s ‘Get Active’ initiative and Cricket Australia’s MILO Cricket program in schools throughout the state in rural, indigenous and suburban communities.

Tennis and Cairns has played a big part in Barry’s life. He gained a tennis and cricket scholarship for his secondary school education, and Cairns is his home town where he has volunteered and played at many tennis clubs.

Barry is looking forward to being part of the Tennis Queensland team and is excited to promote tennis in the Far North region.

Barry starts on July 18th and will be contractible on [email protected] and 0411762348
