Australia’s best wheelchair athletes including Paralympians Ben Weekes, Adam Kellerman and Heath Davidson will battle it out at the National Wheelchair Tennis Championships starting tomorrow, Friday 16 to Sunday 18 November.

The prestigious championships will take place at the National Tennis Centre at Melbourne Park and will host all four wheelchair divisions including women’s, men’s, quad and junior events, with players looking to secure national titles and benchmark themselves against fellow Australian competitors.

The junior competition will see the strongest field ever compete, led by top seeds 16-year-old Hayley Slocombe, 17-year-old Finn Broadbent, 13-year-old Riley Dumsday ranked No. 7, No.13 and No.14 in the world respectively.

In addition to the competition, a Come and Try day will be hosted on Saturday from 10.00 am with National Wheelchair Tennis Coach educator Greg Crump.

Crump earlier this year received the highest international honour in wheelchair tennis, the ITF Brad Parkes Award, recognising his significant contribution to the sport for over 30 years.
