Australian John Millman has been forced to withdraw from the French Open due to a shoulder injury.

The 23-year-old Queenslander, a wildcard into the main draw in Paris, announced the unfortunate news on Twitter late Monday evening.

“Really disappointed. MRI results have confirmed I have a significant shoulder injury forcing me to withdraw from #rolandgarros #atp #tennis,” he wrote.

The world No.141 will be replaced in the draw by compatriot Nick Kyrgios, who has been elevated from the qualifying draw. It will be the first time in the 18-year-old’s fledgling career that he will contest a Grand Slam main draw.

Young Aussie Alex Bolt has taken Kyrgios’ place in qualifying, and has drawn fellow Australian James Duckworth.
