Roy Emerson’s tennis career began on the family farm in Blackbutt (115km north-west of Brisbane) and went on to span 12 Grand Slam singles titles and 16 men’s doubles titles and eight Davis Cup titles.

Emerson who now lives in California recently returned to visit the old family property and officially open the “Roy Emerson Museum”. The museum was put together by the Blackbutt and District Tourism and Heritage Association inside the old Nukku State School building, now known as “Nukku Nook” where Emerson went to school.

The Heritage Association is currently petitioning to to rename part of the D’Aguilar Highway “Roy Emerson Way”. Click here to sign the petition.
