Anastasia Rodionova

Born in Tambov, Russia, Anastasia Rodionova learned how to play tennis under the tuition of her father, Ivan, a professional tennis coach.

She started representing Australia in 2008. Whenever possible, Anastasia plays doubles with her sister Arina who represents her native Russia.

When coaching his daughter, Ivan Rodionov’s dream was for Anastasia to beat him, which she did at 14 years of age. Anastasia considers her dad as the most influential person in her career.

As a child, she also performed gymnastics and although she doesn’t have time for other sports now, she does enjoy swimming.

When she’s not playing, Anastasia enjoys reading books, watching movies and going out to nightclubs. She finds travelling around the world gruelling, but loves meeting people from different cultures.

Anastasia considers her strong on-court emotions as both her strength and weakness, helping her to fight but also causing her lapses in concentration.
