WA’s Maddison Inglis has claimed the W25 Perth Tennis International title, beating Destanee Aiava (VIC) 6-4, 7-6 (4), to claim her fifth ITF title in under ten months.

The number one seed, and now world number 114, broke early in the match to take the opening service game and early lead from Aiava. Holding serve throughout the set, Inglis had the advantage with a 6-4 win the first.

The hard serving Aiava found form, and with a 5-0 lead in the second, the match looked certain it would go to a third. Taking no chances, Inglis served to stay in the match, digging deep to advance to 1-5, and trail by four games. Proving her position as one of the world’s most promising rising stars, Inglis took the next four games to tie the set at 5-5. Leading the tie break from the start, a steely and determined Inglis won the set and the match, 6-4, 7-6 (4).

The win marks a ten match winning streak for the inform Inglis, whose rise to world number 114, has seen a steady trajectory towards the world’s top one hundred woman. Winning her maiden ITF title at the W25 Nonthaburi (Thailand) in May last year, Inglis has maintained incredible momentum, winning the W25 Saskatoon (Canada), the W25 Toowoomba (Australia), and her biggest win to date, the W60 Burnie (Australia), earlier this month.  The win in Perth marks a fifth ITF title for the 22 year old.

Inglis now heads to Mexico for the Mexico Open, before lining up with the world’s best, at the Miami Open. Following Miami, and thanks to a world ranking just outside the top 100, Inglis will now look to appearances at the French, Wimbledon and US Opens.
