Nick Kyrgios returns home to recover from elbow injury
Nick Kyrgios is out of action after flying back to Australia for treatment on an elbow injury.
Australia’s Nick Kyrgios faces some time out of action as he recovers from an elbow injury.
The 22-year-old, ranked No.25, flew back to Australia for treatment following defeat by Ivo Karlovic in Houston last week.
Kyrgios has struggled with his elbow since Australia’s Davis Cup tie against Germany in February.
“After returning home and consulting with medical staff in Australia I have been diagnosed with Posterior Impingement and Ulnar Nerve Irritation and I have been advised to stop playing through it,” he wrote on Instagram.
“After thorough investigations and careful consideration I have had a corticosteroid injection to settle the pain and inflammation.
“Now, to maximise my recovery, I have to build the strength needed to compete at my best over the next month, ensuring I have strength in my elbow before returning.”
The French Open begins on May 27, with the Madrid Open and Italian Open forming part of the build-up over the next month.
