John Millman put up his customary fight but Damir Dzumhur prevailed in their first-round encounter at the ATP Shenzhen Open on Wednesday.

The sixth seed, who arrived in China fresh off his title-winning run last week at the St Petersburg Open, took his winning streak to six with a 6-4 7-5 win over the Queenslander.

Millman, ranked 190th, took his place in the draw thanks to a protected ranking yet couldn’t stop the in-form Bosnian, who managed 11 aces in the 77-minute contest.

Dzumhur next faces Sloavkian qualifier Lukas Lacko.

Millman was the last Australian in the draw after qualifier Matt Ebden and wildcard Akira Santillan also bowed out in the first round.
