Australia will face China for a place in the Junior Fed Cup by Paribas Finals after sweeping past Uzbekistan in the quarterfinals of the Asia / Oceania Final Qualifying event in New Delhi.

Amber Marshall (SA) showed plenty of grit and determination to beat Milana Maslenkova in the opening singles rubber and keep her unbeaten record intact. After trailing 5-4 in both sets, Marshall found her range when it mattered most to triumph 7-5 7-5.

Olivia Gadecki’s match against Yasmina Karimjanova was more straightforward, as the Queenslander raced to a 6-3 6-1 victory in less than an hour.

Similarly, the doubles rubber was over in just 38 minutes, as Gadecki and Tayla Whitehouse (SA) overpowered their opponents 6-1 6-0.

With three places on offer for the Junior Fed Cup by Paribas Finals, victory in today’s semifinal clash with China would guarantee Australia a place in the showpiece event, which will be held in Hungary in September.
