Bernard Tomic has retired from his first round match at the ATP Acapulco tournament due to heat exhaustion.
Tomic lost the first set in a tiebreak to Donald Young before withdrawing.
The Australian reached the final in Acapulco last year, falling in three sets to Dominic Thiem in the decider.
Tomic could have faced a second-round match with compatriot Nick Kyrgios, the sixth seed who opens against Dudi Sela.
Instead, a Kyrgios victory will set up a last-16 clash with Young, who’s shown impressive form of late in reaching the semifinals at his last two tournaments in Delray Beach and Memphis.
