Biggest movers: Barton’s post-Wimbledon breakthrough
Matt Barton has soared to a new career-high ranking after his best-ever Grand Slam result at Wimbledon, while Ash Barty continues to climb in her comeback.
Matt Barton’s breakout Wimbledon campaign has sent the Australian flying up the rankings into the top 200.
Barton, who qualified for his first Grand Slam main draw before reaching the second round, vaulted 59 places to a career-high ranking of No.192.
Also enjoying a big jump was Marc Polmans; the Victorian teen improved 88 places to reach No.415.
Polmans has torn up the Futures circuit in Africa in recent weeks, winning 21 of 23 matches, back-to-back titles in Mozambique and later another trophy in Zimbabwe.
On the women’s side, Ash Barty continued her impressive singles comeback with a jump of 30 places to world No.305.
Just one month ago, Barty was unranked, yet now sits at No.7 in Australia; her latest result was reaching the second round of qualifying at Wimbledon.
Priscilla Hon returned to the Aussie top 10 this week, rising eight places to No.345 after reaching the second round of the $25,000 ITF event in El Paso.
