Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium overpowered Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic 7-5 6-2 on Saturday to advance to the final of the Japan Open.
Wickmayer converted all five of her break point chances to dispatch the seventh-seeded Tomljanovic in 1 hour 27 minutes at Ariake Colosseum.
Wickmayer will face Magda Linette of Poland in Sunday’s final. Linette ousted sixth-seeded Christina McHale of the United States 3-6 6-4 6-3.
