Gajdosova recovered from a 0-4 deficit in the second set to romp to victory in one hour and 15 minutes.

It was her second come-from-behind victory in the Japanese capital; in the second round of qualifying she was down 6-3 3-1 before rallying to beat Miharu Imanishi.

Including her three wins in Tokyo qualifying and last week’s run to the WTA Hong Kong Open quarterfinals as a qualifier, Gajdosova has now won 24 of her past 29 matches.

Not so lucky was fellow Aussie Anastasia Rodionova, who fell in three sets to Daria Gavrilova in the final round of qualifying in Tokyo.

Rodionova fought for almost two hours before going down 6-2 2-6 6-4.

Meanwhile, at the WTA KIA Korea Open in Seoul, Olivia Rogowska was beaten 6-1 6-2 in the first round by fifth seed Varvara Lepchenko of the United States.
