Sixth-seeded Australian Marinko Matosevic is through to the quarterfinals of the Farmers Classic event in Los Angeles.

The news, however, wasn’t so good for Matt Ebden who was knocked out by fifth-seeded Belgian Xavier Malisse in straight sets, 6-4 6-3.

Matosevic, currently ranked No.81, took an early lead before his opponent, Tobias Kamke fought back in the second. With the match locked at one set apiece, Matosevic took control in the final set, winning 6-3 1-6 6-0.

The Australian will now face the winner out of the second-round match between top seed Benoit Paire and Michael Russell.

This is the third ATP quarterfinal Matosevic has chalked up this year, as well as making it to the final at Delray Beach.
