Olivia Rogowska is through to the second round of Wimbledon qualifying after a straight-sets win in the opening round.

Rogowska, the world No.124 and 10th seed in qualifying, knocked out Canada’s Sharon Elizabet Fichman 6-2 6-2.

The Melburnian will next face Italian Camila Giorgi in the second round. Rogowska needs to win three matches to qualify for what would be her first Wimbledon main draw.

The 20-year-old Italian is looking to qualify for the main draw for the second year in a row. Rogowska, ranked No.124, will start favourite against the 145th-ranked Italian.

In other qualifying matches, 20th seed Yvonne Meusburger defeated Monique Adamczak 6-2 6-2 and Marc Gicquel knocked out James Duckworth 6-3 6-7(7) 6-4 in a tough three-set match.

The Wimbledon main draw begins on 25 June.
