Novak Djokovic’s victory in the Miami Masters enabled him to gain valuable ground on Rafael Nadal in ATP rankings released Monday, but American Andy Roddick slumped to his worst position since June 2002.

Unbeaten since the Davis Cup final in December, Serb Djokovic now stands only 3170 points off Nadal, the equivalent of a grand slam victory and Masters 1000 title.

Former No.1 Roddick slipped to 14th, while compatriot and Miami semifinalist Mardy Fish is now installed as the top US tennis player at 11th.

Lleyton Hewitt remains Australia’s top-ranked male at world No.64.
