On court

• learned to play tennis aged nine
• showed much promise during his junior years
• was an orange boy at Australia’s first-round Davis Cup tie against France in 1997; again during the World Group quarterfinal against Belarus in 2006
• won three ATP doubles titles in Sopot (2001), Sydney (2003) and Beijing (2005)
• in August 2009, took up a role as Lleyton Hewitt’s coach, which he resigned from in August 2010

Off court

• son of Jan, a pathologist at Gosford Hospital, and Greg, a tennis coach and electrician; has two younger brothers, Ryan and Brett
• enjoys music, yoga, snowboarding and horseracing
• married his partner of three years, American Marnie Heller, in a beach wedding in Avoca, NSW on 23 December 2007
