The Junior Girl’s and Boy’s State League Most Valuable Players have been confirmed with Adam Miller (Reabold) and Jasmin Heapes (Cottesloe) both winning the award after dominant seasons.

The pair were two of a very few to have won all their singles matches throughout the season. For Jasmin Heapes, it was a busy season which saw her play in the Women’s State League for Royal Kings Park on a Saturday while then backing it up on a Sunday to play for Cottesloe Tennis Club.

The quantity of matches throughout the summer calendar would have helped her achieve a 100% win rate in her singles matches, winning seven matches.

Heapes won singles matches against the likes of quality opposition such as Isabelle Criddle, Karin Hiramatsu, Misty Woodhouse and Sumner Royall – all players who have played women’s State League.

What made her season most impressive was that Heapes consistently played in the number one position. Heapes also had an impressive record in doubles matches, winning all five of her doubles rubbers throughout the season.

Her summer season culminated on Sunday when she won her singles tie against Mt Lawley’s Vinciguerra 6-3 6-1 in the girl’s final which saw her side Cottesloe win the title.

It was similar success in the Junior Boy’s State League with this season’s MVP Adam Miller playing a pivotal role in the boy’s final. Miller defeated Lucas Sirbu in the final 6-2 6-4 which helped Reabold defeat Cottesloe 3-1.

Miller’s season was also filled with plenty of success, going throughout the season undefeated in both singles and doubles matches. Playing regularly in the number four position, Miller won all eight of his singles rubbers and more impressively, did not drop a single set. This was similar in his doubles matches, going through the season undefeated in eight matches and not dropping a set.

The strength of Cottesloe in the girl’s competition was clearly shown with Mayla Manoj and Leni Vila finishing the home and away season with a 5-1 win-loss record while Amelia Hilton went through undefeated in her four singles matches.

Mt Lawley’s Benita Vinciguerra (6-2 win-loss singles record) and UWA’s Grace Gribbon (4-1 win-loss singles record) were also impressive throughout the season.

In the boy’s competition, Miller’s teammate Trevor Eastwood was just one win short of challenging for the boy’s MVP, winning seven singles matches and not losing any. Adam’s brother Daniel Miller was also impressive with a 6-0 singles win-loss record and fellow teammate Liam McDowell won six singles matches.

Other standout players throughout the season were UWA’s Knox Treasure (7-0 win-loss singles record), Cottesloe’s Sam Mitchell (6-2 win-loss singles record) and Marc Sutisna (6-0 win-loss singles record).

The Junior State League Most Valuable Player is determined by the home and away season only and does not include finals matches.
