Tennis West is delighted to announce Subiaco Primary School as the School of the Term for Term 4, recognising their outstanding commitment to participation, community spirit and student engagement.
This term, Subiaco PS brought an impressive twelve teams to the Fuel to Go and Play Red Ball Competitions, the highest number of any school across all Red Ball Competition venues. Their commitment to giving students meaningful sporting experiences was also reflected in the remarkable turnout of around 180 students at the Onslow Park RBC, creating opportunities for a large and diverse group of children to experience team-based tennis in a supportive environment.
The scale of Subiaco PS’s involvement highlights a school culture that values inclusion and encourages students to be active, curious and connected. By entering so many teams and inviting such broad participation, they helped introduce tennis to children of varying skill levels, allowing many to enjoy the excitement of interschool match play, build confidence, and share the experience with their peers. This approach aligns beautifully with the goals of the RBC program, which is designed to make tennis accessible, engaging and fun for every child, regardless of experience.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Tennis West Schools and Pathways Officer – North, Charlotte Connon, shared just how significant these programs are for the wider community:
“The RBCs are a highlight of the year for the Tennis West team! It’s great to be able to facilitate opportunities for primary school children to experience tennis, some for the first time, in their local club and community. The Onslow Park RBC was the first event of 24 around WA through Term 4, with over 2,500 students participating. Congratulations to Subiaco PS on winning School of the Term, there was a great atmosphere with lots of smiles and laughter across the day and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!”
Being named School of the Term reflects not only the enthusiasm shown by students, but also the dedication of teachers, staff and parents who helped bring the program to life. Subiaco PS has demonstrated what it means to invest in community sport, supporting pathways that may inspire lifelong involvement in tennis. Tennis West congratulates Subiaco Primary School on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to welcoming their students again next term.
