The 2025 Fuel to Go & Play Red Ball Competitions officially came to a close after the final event in Collie last Friday. An exciting statewide tour that brought tennis fun, participation, and great sportsmanship to schools across Western Australia.
This year’s competitions took the Tennis West Schools Team far and wide, from Busselton, Dumbleyung, Goldfields, Margaret River, Merredin, Mount Lawley, Onslow Park, Esperance, Wembley Downs, York, Sorrento, Kardinya, Midland, South Mandurah, Mandurah, Ocean Ridge, Midwest (Geraldton/Tarcoola), Narrogin, Blue Gum Park, Tenterden right through to Collie, reaching students in both metro and regional communities.
Across the series of events, we were thrilled to welcome 94 schools and 2,880 students across the 24 events to experience the joy of competitive tennis in a fun and supportive Red Ball format.
The events provided primary school students with their first taste of interschool tennis, encouraging participation, teamwork, and skill development, all in a modified match play environment designed for young players. These competitions continue to play an important role in inspiring long-term engagement with tennis and helping students find their pathway into the sport.
Tennis West extends sincere gratitude to Healthway, Kinetic, and MaxiBlock for their ongoing support of the Red Ball Competitions. Their support has been instrumental in bringing these competitions to life and ensuring students across WA have access to quality, inclusive tennis opportunities.
Looking back on this year’s successful RBC’s, Charlotte Connon, Tennis West Schools and Pathways Officer – North said:
“It’s been incredible to see so many schools and students embrace the Fuel to Go & Play Red Ball Competitions this year. These events are all about creating positive first experiences with tennis, where fun, teamwork, and skill development come together.
“Watching students discover the joy of the game and start their tennis journey is what makes these competitions so special.”
“We thank every student, teacher, parent, and volunteer who helped make the 2025 Red Ball season such a success. We can’t wait to deliver even more opportunities for young players to get active and involved with tennis in 2026!”
