12 November 2025 | Tennis West

The 2025 Fuel to Go & Play Red Ball Competitions have reached the halfway point, with 10 exciting events already completed and 15 more still to come before the final serve on 12 December.

Since kicking off on 23 October, the Tennis West Schools Team has taken the competition across the state, travelling both north and south through regional Western Australia, as well as hosting events right here in the Perth metro area. So far, the tour has included stops in Busselton, Dumbleyung, Goldfields, Margaret River, Merredin, Mount Lawley, Onslow Park, Esperance, Wembley Downs, and York.

This year marked the inaugural events in Merredin and York, bringing more tennis opportunities to students in the central and eastern districts and expanding the reach of Red Ball Competition participation across Western Australia.

The largest event to date took place in the Goldfields, where eight schools and 130 students came together for a day of fun, teamwork, and tennis. In total, 44 schools have already taken part across all events so far, with a projected final tally of around 100 schools by the time the series wraps up.

Participation has been strong, with 1,131 students already taking part and an estimated 2,500 expected to join in by the end of the competition period.

Over the coming weeks, the Schools Team will continue their journey around WA, visiting more metro schools, travelling as far north as Geraldton, and heading south to Tenterden to engage even more young players in the Red Ball experience.

Tennis West Schools and Pathways Officer – North, Charlotte Connon, said it’s been a rewarding season so far:

“RBC season is one of the highlights of the year! The team have been out on the road, travelling to deliver events across the metro and regional areas, including the South-West, Wheatbelt, and Goldfields, with events in the Peel, Mid-West and Great Southern still to come. It’s fantastic to see so many schools and so many students participating, some of whom are picking up a racket for the first time, and to witness the smiles and laughter across the courts!”
