The main draw of the Perth Tennis International ITF M25 #1 has been finalised after the final round of qualifying matches wrapped up on Monday at the State Tennis Centre.
A total of 18 Australians including two from Western Australia will compete in the main draw of the Perth Tennis International ITF M25 #1.
Locals will be hyped to see local talent compete on the big stage with West Aussie Jake Dembo receiving a wildcard into the main draw of singles. Dembo will play Emile Hudd from Great Britian in the first round on Wednesday. Dembo will also play doubles and will go into the draw with confidence, advancing to the final two in the men’s doubles at the ITF J200 tournament in Miki, Japan earlier this month.
On Monday Ethan Cook advanced to the final round of qualifying but came up short, losing to Australian Arjun Mehrotra in straight sets 6-2 6-4.
The main draw will be headlined by first seed Queenslander and current world number 351 Dane Sweeny. The 24-year-old Sweeny will come into the tournament as one of the favourites, freshly coming off a singles win at the ITF M25 in Tamworth over the weekend which makes it 4 ITF M25 titles in a row. Sweeny also made his Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open in 2024 and made it to the second round of the Masters 1000 in Shanghai in 2023. First seed Sweeny faces Australian Arjun Mehrotra in the first round on Tuesday.
Rising star Cruz Hewitt enters the main draw and will come up against eighth seed Delany in the first round on Wednesday. Hewitt will team up with fellow Aussie Ty Host in the men’s doubles first round on Tuesday afternoon.
Hewitt has a strong hardcourt record this year, winning 11 of 16 matches. He was a finalist at a J300 event in Kuala Lumpur and Nonthaburi.
The 16-year-old is the only Australian junior to compete in the main draw of all four Grand Slams in 2025. His best results came at Melbourne Park and the All England Club, where he made second-round appearances.
Other well-known Aussie names include fifth seed Matthew Dellavedova. The current world number 433 will go in as a contender after regularly making the quarter finals of recent M25 tournaments in Taipei and Sapporo in Japan.
Seventh seed Marc Polmans will start his campaign on Wednesday with a match against Aussie Zane Stevens. Polmans, ranked 534 in the world, has seen success in the past, making the main draw of the Australian Open on four occasions with a personal best 2020 performance making the second round of the main draw. The 28-year-old Polmans has also reached the second round of the French Open and Wimbledon.
Day one of main draw starts with a near all Aussie affair on the three match courts from 10 AM, headlined by Dane Sweeny on Court 2. Main draw doubles will start not before 12.30 PM on Tuesday afternoon.
