At 82 years young, John Finlayson is proof that dedication and passion know no age limit. A life member of Claremont Lawn Tennic Club and a cornerstone of the club community, John continues to lead by example, offering his time, energy, and wisdom to ensure the club runs like clockwork. For his unwavering service, Tennis West is proud to name John Finlayson as this month’s Club Corner Volunteer of the Month.
John has been a member of Claremont Lawn Tennic Club for many years, and his impact on the club spans both its physical infrastructure and its community spirit. On most days, you’ll find him at the club—mending court equipment, tending the gardens, or managing major maintenance and development projects. His hands-on work keeps the club looking and functioning at its best, but it’s his behind-the-scenes project management that really makes things tick.
John’s contribution is not limited to tools and tasks. His legendary court craft has long been admired at the club, where he continues to be a mentor and inspiration to players of all ages. His experience, skill, and gentle guidance enrich the playing experience for everyone fortunate enough to share the court with him.
More than anything, it’s John’s spirit that stands out. Never without a willing smile or a cheerful word, he brings warmth and camaraderie to every corner of the club. His presence is a reminder of the power of community and the difference one dedicated volunteer can make.
Congratulations, John Finlayson, on being named Tennis West’s Club Corner Volunteer of the Month. Your decades of service, leadership, and kindness embody the heart of community tennis.
