State League continues this weekend with matches spanning from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. The feature match sees Alexander Park host Peppermint Grove in the Men’s State League this Saturday from 1 pm.

After a slow start to the season, the experienced Alexander Park comes off two consecutive wins against UWA and Mt Lawley/Sorrento. Peppermint Grove have been up and down so far this season with impressive wins against ladder leaders Cottesloe but have lost against Blue Gum Park and UWA where they went down 6-0 last week.

Key match-up: Scott Jones (Alexander Park) v Brandon Walkin (Peppermint Grove)

This match should be a battle of the heavy weights as two of the best players in the State League go against each other with both players heading into this match undefeated. Scott Jones enters the match on a four-match winning streak, dropping only one set so far which came against Cottesloe’s Scott Webster.

Brandon Walkin also has similar form, winning all three matches he has played and has not dropped a set. Walkin missed last week’s match playing for Hume Tennis CLub in the Victorian Premier League.

Key Match-up: Harry Bourchier (Alexander Park) v Jake Robinson (Peppermint Grove)

Another match-up that promises to be an interesting and unpredictable battle as Harry Bourchier makes his State League debut for Alexander Park coming from the Victorian Premier League playing for RSY Yarras. Bourchier this season has a record of two wins and three losses, however, is in form winning his last two matches.

Peppermint Grove’s Jake Robinson transferred from Royal Kings Park last season and played his first match of the season last week against UWA’s Hans Bustiman on the clay courts of UWA, going down in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.
