This year Tennis West is pleased to offer three exciting new doubles events to the 2023 calendar.

The 2023 Djilba Doubles Events which will take place in August and are available to all players 18 years old and over.

The name Djilba has been chosen to acknowledge the strong mutual relationship that the Tennis Community is building with Noongar Leaders. Djilba is one of the six Noongar seasons which include Birak (December to January), Bunura (February to March), Djeran ( April to May), Makuru (June to July), Djilba (August to September) and Kambarang (October to November).

 

Djilba (August – September)

• The Noongar Season ‘Djilba’ is represented by the colour pink as it symbolises growth of wildflowers and plants.
• This is the start of the massive flowering explosion that happens in the South West. Beginning with the yellow flowering plants such as the acacias.
• Djilba is a transitional time of the year, with some very cold and clear days combining with warmer, rainy and windy days mixing with the occasional sunny day or two.

 

2023 Djilba Doubles Events – Key Information

• These Events are for our WA Adult League Players (18 years & over)
• Steps on how to enter, through Tournament Planner, are listed below
• These Events will be held at the State Tennis Centre
• Food and Beverages (including alcohol) will be available for purchase from the STC Café and Bar during the Events (these are 18 years & over only events)
• Winners Prizes on offer

 

2023 Djilba Doubles Event #1 – 18yrs & over

August 25, 26 & 27 August

• This event will be held on Friday (night) 25 August, Saturday 26August & Sunday 27 August
• Three competitions are offered – Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles
• All three competitions will run across all three days so all entrants must be available during all 3 days
• Friday night matches start at 6.30pm and finish approximately 10.30pm
• Saturday and Sunday matches start at 9.30am and finish approximately 5.30pm
• Entries close on Tuesday 15 August 2023
• Formats will be determined after entries close and is dependent on number of entries

2023 Djilba Doubles Event #2 – 18yrs & over

August 29, 30 & 31

• This event will be held over 3 nights on Tuesday 29August, Wednesday 30 August & Thursday 31 August
• Three competitions are offered – Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles
• All three competitions will run across all three nights therefore all entrants must be available during all 3 nights
• Matches start at 6.30pm and finish approximately 10.30pm
• Entries close on Saturday 19August 2023
• Formats will be determined after entries close and are dependent on number of entries

2023 Djilba Doubles Event #3 – 18yrs & over

August 30 August

• This event will be held on Wednesday 30 August
• One competition is offered – Women’s Doubles
• Matches start at 9.30am and finish approximately 2.30pm
• Entries close on Saturday 19 August 2023
• Formats will be determined after entries close and is dependent on number of entries
