After 16 weeks of tennis, only two teams remain with all to play for this weekend’s Women’s State League Final.

In the semi-final, Alexander Park were victors over Dalkeith winning 4-0. With the tie confirmed after the singles matches, there was no need to play the doubles. Alexander Park have been the standout team in the women’s competition and are in form, having not lost a match since Round six.

The second semi-final fixture between Peppermint Grove and Hensman Park went down to the wire. Peppermint Grove were challenged but kept their undefeated home ground winning streak going, edging out Hensman Park with the final doubles match played under lights deciding the result.

The matchup between the two sides will make for an intriguing contest. While Alexander Park has the home ground advantage and is more suited to grass courts, Alexander Park’s both loses this season has come from Peppermint Grove.

In both their previous ties this season, Peppermint Grove prevailed as winners, winning both their fixtures on sets. Peppermint Grove will go into the match with confidence, having been undefeated on grass court surfaces this season. It will be a game that could go either way.

Since the inception of the Women’s State League in 1966-67, both finalists have just the one title between the two with that being Alexander Park in 1967-68. Peppermint Grove are yet to win a State League title.

The women’s final will be played this Saturday at Alexander Park, with the singles fixtures starting at 12.30 pm.

The Women’s Final will be broadcast live on livesport.video with live commentary and expert analysis.
