Perth’s Jake Dembo has been selected in the Australian World Junior Tennis Boys Team (14/u), and is part of the prestigious group of Australia’s top 16-and-under, and 14-and-under tennis players who will compete for a spot in the Junior Billie Jean King Cup and Junior Davis Cup Finals (16/u) and World Junior Tennis Finals (14/u) at the Asia/Oceania qualifying events being held in New Delhi, India this month.

Jake – currently ranked the No. 1 male in his age group in Australia – joins Cruz Hewitt and Filip Fantasia from Sydney and Adelaide, respectively, in the Australian World Junior Tennis Boys Team, and will don the green and gold to represent Australia on the international stage later this month.

Jake’s selection comes off the back of a milestone year in 2021, most notably taking out the title at the Australian U14 Boys’ 2022 Junior Wimbledon event and winning entry into Junior Wimbledon this July.

Jake also became the youngest debutant in Tennis West State League history during the 2021/22 Summer State League (Matt Ebden has previously debuted at 14 years of age), and competed in a State League men’s match for Mt Lawley Tennis Club.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for Jake to represent WA and Australia on a global platform and to experience the thrill and challenge of competing against some of the world’s best young players,” said Talent Operations Manager (WA) Mitchell Pleydell.

Top young Aussie talent will be on full display as Australia will field a team of three players in each respective competition. In total, 15 countries will compete in the Asia/Oceania qualifying events with the top four teams earning direct entry into the Finals to be held later in the year.

The following players will represent Australia for the first time in their respective fields:
