Super 10’S

Super 10’s starts in Term 4 with the opening Challenge Day on Saturday, October 18. The top 4 WA boys and girls will be selected to attend the National Super 10’s Finals in Melbourne during the 2019 Australian Open. Dates for this term are the following:

  • Saturday, October 13. Challenge Day
  • Saturday, October 20. Round 1
  • Saturday, October 27. Round 2
  • Saturday, November 3. Round 3
  • Saturday, November 10. Final

 

‘Stay on the Clay’ 14/U Female Gold Coast Camp

Australia’s best female 14/U players from the 2004 birth year were invited to the Gold Coast for a week long intensive training camp at KDV Tennis Academy. Shanelle Iaconi and Talia Gibson were both invited from WA. Unfortunately, Talia could not attend the camp. Shanelle spent the week training on the clay with some of the countries top coaches and participated in on court sessions, physical activities, well-being initiatives and presentations. Shanelle enjoyed the week and benefited greatly from the experience.

Fiji B2 & Sydney ITF

Tristan Schoolkate was selected to represent Australia at the prestigious invitational B2 Oceania Closed Junior Championships in Fiji. Tristan performed exceptionally well reaching the singles final and semi finals of the doubles with Dane Sweeney (Qld). This was an great result against strong International competition. Tristan followed up the great week in Fiji with a perfect performance in Sydney where he won both the singles and doubles at the Australian Winter International Grade 3. The stellar two weeks has seen Tristan launch himself into the Top 100 in the World ITF Junior Rankings. This sets up Tristan for a blockbuster 2019 with entry into the Junior Grand Slams.

 

Victorian Junior State Championships

Damien Ward and Marissa Gianotti provided coach support and duty of care for some of WA’s up and coming stars at the Victorian State Junior Championships. Players from the Talent Program that took part in the 12/U Championships were Jake Dembo, Marko Mrdak, Liam McDowell, Jana Ruzic, Talia Edgar, Ethan Reed, CIan Ingles, Zach Viiala, Taylah Preston, Yelena Kelleher, Rhea Makesar and Ben Walsh. Taylah Preston was a standout at the Championships winning the singles title and making the doubles final. All of the WA players played a number of quality matches and had a terrific time. Off court players took part in well-being activities, sight seeing and other social activities.

 

12/U & 14/U Australian Claycourt Championships

The Australian Claycourt Championships were held in Canberra from September 28 to October 3. WA performed exceptionally well with great results across both age groups. 19 players from WA participated in the Championships with Andrew Roberts, Len Cannell and Damien Ward providing coach support for the week. Highlights of the Championships included 3/4 of the 14/U girl’s semi finalist’s coming from WA. Taylah Preston was the National Doubles Winner partnering Sienna Leeson from NSW and Talia Gibson was a singles finalist the 14/U Girls event.
