The first series of the Super 10 Competition in WA at the State Tennis Centre has been completed. The Super 10s is an exciting competition for boys and girls who are born between 2006 to 2008. The competition forms part of the National 10/U ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Program. Talent Development Manager Damien Ward runs the WA competition and was thrilled by the level of play from the boys and girls throughout the competition.

 

There were five rounds of competition which were held at the State Tennis Centre with rounds completed on Saturdays. The finals were completed on June 24 and included exciting play and great sportsmanship by all.

 

The Winning Boys team was Team – Nadal.

Manager: John Roberts

Players: Nenyasha Manzvera, Cameron Burton, Archie Russell and Elijan Fernandez.

 

Runners Up. Team – Gasquet.

Manager John Thorpe.

Players: Luka Vujacic, Matthew Zatella, Bryce Flammer and Kirk Fissioli. (Haris Music was away but was integral to the teams’s success all season.)

 

The winning girls team was Team – Muguruza

Manager: Marisa Gianotti

Players: Jana Runic, Milla Tasovac, Amelia Tatafu and Tara Aleksic

 

Runners Up – Team Kerber.

Manager. Charlotte Connon

Players: Talia Edgar, Aleisha Horridge, Yuvna Dass and Chloe Warren

 

Yelena Kelleher and Archie Russell were awarded “Most valuable players” for the competition. They were both undefeated and they showed great passion for the competition. There was also an award for “Best Sportsmanship” across the whole competition, this was awarded to Henry Holmes and Peyton Duckett.

 

The boys teams were managed by John Thorpe, John Roberts, Mitch Pleydell and Cameron Fenner.

The girls teams were managed by Marissa Gianotti, Charlotte Connon, Bojana Bobusic and Andrea Cooper.
