Tennis Australia is currently working with Inside Edge -Sport and Leisure Consultants and an Australia wide working group of stakeholders that includes Tennis West to develop a resource that provides guidance in facility planning and development of projects.  The proposed final document will assist with the planning and development of facility projects.  The core outcome of this project will be developing the capacity to deliver more sustainable tennis venues across the country.

The planning and technical resource will provide a practical infrastructure planning tool for government, planners, designers, land owners, contractors, clubs, coaches and venue operators.  The key project tasks include:

  • Reviewing existing national and international tennis infrastructure planning and design documentation.
  • Detailed industry and government consultation to identify current tennis infrastructure planning and project delivery gaps and trends.
  • Developing evidence based content obtained via existing tennis facility audit data, recent local government surveys, industry experts and local tennis community insights.
  • Stakeholder review of resource content, final documentation and digital production.

The resource document will aim to provide well informed infrastructure planning advice as well as layout considerations, designs, asset lifecycle and budget information.

The final format of the resource will be offered in hard copy with a view to hosting electronically on Tennis Australia’s digital platform.

Anyone seeking more information regarding this resource can contact Graeme Hall -Manager Places to Play at Tennis West on (08) 6462 8304 or [email protected].
