Last Wednesday, Loton Park Tennis Club officially launched their new online court booking system – Book-a-Court, with City of Vincent Mayor, Emma Cole unveiling the new initiative that will change the way the community can access their local tennis club.

Loton Park TC is one of seven pilot clubs in WA to have installed the new online court booking system, which allows online payment, keyless entry and around-the-clock access to the courts via pin pad technology.  Once a player books a court online, it connects with a pin-pad at the gate, turning on the lights when a player enters their unique booking pin on the keypad.

The seven pilot programs were funded by the Department of Sport and Recreation in conjunction with Tennis Australia.

The system is available to both members and non-members, with a key focus of encouraging greater accessibility and convenience to members of the local community.

The club officially launched this system to the community and the local council on Wednesday evening with a ceremonial ribbon cutting by Mayor Emma Cole, Councillors from the City of Vincent, DSR Representatives, key Tennis West officials and the Loton Park TC committee members.

As part of the launch, the club also opened their gates to the local community and offered free Social Tennis between 5-7pm with a sausage sizzle and champagne on arrival. Attendees were also able to ‘walk the red carpet’ leading up to the pin-pad gate.

President of Loton Park Tennis Club, Mr Philip Hawkins is thrilled with the benefits that this system provides to both the club and the wider community.

“The Book a Court System has taken Loton Park TC into the smart phone age, and allows easier, more convenient access for our members, social players and the wider community” Mr Hawkins said.

“For our club, Book a Court has been a huge improvement for our members and those people who live and work nearby who just want to play tennis without the hassle of physically grabbing a key from another location.”

“We want to make our facility more accessible to the local community, and this innovative system is allowing us to do that”

Tennis West CEO, Michael Roberts believes Book a Court is the way of the future for tennis and is a positive step forward for WA clubs who can now provide a new offering to the local community.

“The Book a Court platform meets modern consumer expectations by providing a convenient, easy, online platform to book and access your local court. From the club’s perspective, this will reduce the administrative burden, and help to increase court hire revenue.” Mr Roberts said

“This system will help to change the tennis landscape in WA by making our courts more accessible and open to the community”.
