Perth’s Casey Dellacqua has taken another step toward a second Grand Slam doubles title after progressing to the semifinals of the women’s doubles on Tuesday.

The West Australian, who won the mixed doubles title at the French Open in 2011 with American Scott Lipsky, advanced to the last four of the women’s doubles event alongside Yaroslava Shvedova.

The pair’s 6-3 7-5 win over Michaella Krajicek and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova sets up a semifinal stoush with No.2 seeds Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina.

Dellacqua in 2008 reached the final of the women’s doubles with Francesca Schiavone, and in 2013 progressed to the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open women’s doubles finals with compatriot Ash Barty.

She will attempt to win her first major women’s doubles crown alongside Shvedova, with whom she combined to triumph recently at Madrid.
