16 September 2025 | Tennis Victoria

We are keen to award our Community Champion for September 2025 to the dedicated Trevor Colbert from Tennis Geelong.

Trevor’s involvement in tennis spans over 40 years, beginning in 1981 when he joined Mount Moriac Tennis Club as both a player and Treasurer. His skill with both tennis and numbers quickly caught the attention of the Geelong Coast Tennis Association, who invited him to take on the Treasurer’s role in 1983. An incredible 42 years later, Trevor still holds this position, with no immediate plans to step away!

Not one to shy away from responsibility, Trevor also accepted the role of Secretary for Tennis Geelong in 2016. Since then, he has been a driving force behind the association’s growth, contributing to strategic planning, supporting junior initiatives, and even rolling up his sleeves to cook sausages at Orange Ball Gala Days. He has administered the Junior Racquet initiative, spent countless hours liaising with the Tax Office, written grant applications, and ensured the day-to-day operations run smoothly.

What makes Trevor stand out is not only the breadth of his contributions but also the way he carries them out. He is the ultimate volunteer: reliable, humble, and always willing to pitch in without seeking recognition. Whether it’s offering thoughtful advice, providing perspective, or sharing a laugh, Trevor is someone his peers know they can always count on.

Volunteers like Trevor are the heart of tennis in Victoria. His commitment over four decades has had an immeasurable impact on the Geelong tennis community, ensuring that opportunities for players and volunteers alike continue to thrive.

Congratulations Trevor on being named September’s Community Champion, a well-deserved recognition for your years of service, leadership, and passion for the game!
