Dedicated Healesville Tennis Club volunteer Alan Honeycomb was recognised for his service to tennis on Friday 30 August when he was presented with a Tennis Service Award. A Tennis Service Award is an award to recognise those who have demonstratedtheir long-term volunteer contribution to the sport of tennis in Victoria through significant service to a Tennis Victoria affiliated Club or Association. 

Senior Convenor for over 20+ years at the Healesville TC and a mainstay of the club for over 50 years, Alan has had a strong presence on the committee for many of these years.

At various times, Alan has held the positions of President and Vice President. He has represented the Healesville TC at many Eastern Region Tennis events, AGMs and convenor meetings.

As Senior Convenor, Alan has always ensured that a Senior team is entered into the Eastern Region Tennis Saturday competition. He encourages new players to tennis competition, puts the teams together and completes the administration of team entries.

Alan has also run numerous Club Championships. He has shown commitment to ensuring the presence of the Healesville Tennis Club in the tennis community. With a great knowledge of the history of the club Alan has always been willing to support the club in any way possible. This has included maintenance of the courts and its equipment and he is often dropping off rollers for maintenance, replacing nets and ensuring equipment is in good working order.

On the court Alan has been a part of many premiership teams over his time with Healesville TC; his best effort is his consistent presence on the court throughout the years, playing every season. He has a true passion for playing this great game.

Alan has never wavered from his commitment to Healesville TC. His continued role as Senior Convenor has never been a burden to him. The Healesville TC recognises how very lucky they are to have had Alan support the club through the many roles he has taken on, with his tenure as Senior Convenor being his longest consecutive role.

This Tennis Service Award is recognition of Alan’s outstanding contribution and service to tennis. Congratulations Alan.
