Aussie women set for US Open play-off
Arina Rodionova, Ash Barty and Jarmila Wolfe are all in the hunt for a wildcard into the US Open main draw when they contest this weekend's play-off in Florida.
Arina Rodionova and Ash Barty will head the field in this weekend’s women’s US Open wildcard playoff.
Rodionova, the top seed, and Barty, seeded No.2, are among the five-player field set to do battle at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Barty faces a tough test first up in the form of Jarmila Wolfe, the former No.25 on the comeback trail following shoulder surgery.
Barty only recently returned to the sport herself, making her singles comeback during the grasscourt season after stepping away from the sport for almost two years.
Rodionova will face the winner of the match between Aussie youngsters Naiktha Bains and Ellen Perez.
The winner of the play-off will secure a wildcard into the main draw of the US Open.
The year’s final Grand Slam event begins on Monday 29 August in New York.
