Bernard Tomic has gone down in three sets to Kevin Anderson in the third round of the Toronto Masters on Thursday.
Tomic took the first set but eventually fell 4-6 6-3 6-4.
The Australian had won his past four meetings with the South African but couldn’t deny Anderson securing a place in the quarterfinals in a touch over two hours.
There Anderson will meet second seed Stan Wawrinka, who overcame 16th seed Jack Sock in straight sets.
Tomic was the last Aussie remaining in Toronto after Nick Kyrgios and John Millman bowed out of the ATP Masters event earlier this week.
