Australian Nick Kyrgios has won through to the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells with a straight-sets victory over Denis Kudla.

Kyrgios, playing under lights on the tournament’s premier Stadium 1 court, proved too strong for the American in a 6-4 7-5 win.

The Canberra teen slammed 11 aces down throughout the one hour and eight minute triumph, and pulled off a little magic at the net in the first set.

The win moves him through to the last 64 where he will meet 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov.

Despite having already reached two Grand Slam quarterfinals in his fledgling career, the victory was just Kyrgios’ second at ATP level.
