Kicking the day off at 10 am will be Perth’s Jessica Moore and Arina Rodionova, both having secured comfortable straight set wins in the first round.

Following Ashleigh Barty’s success in the2012 Australian Open Play-off where at the mere age of fifteen she amazed all to triumph, it came as no surprise that she quickly secured a position in the quarterfinals by trouncing Ashley Keir 6-1 6-2.

Interestingly, Barty will match-up with fifth-seeded West Australian Bojana Bobusic who also made her debut appearance at Australian Open 2012.

In the third match of the day on Show Court Six, third seed 29-year-old Monique Adamczak will look to use her years of experience to her advantage when she takes on 18-year-old Viktorija Rajicic.

As in the men’s first round, where 17-year-old Nick Kyrgios upset top seed Sam Groth, the women’s draw also lost its top seed – Olivia Rogowska, who was overwhelmed by unseeded Victorian Tammi Patterson in straight sets.

The outcome of this match alone was a commendable victory for Patterson considering Rogowska’s tremendous successlast year in making it as far as the second round of the Australian Open before losing to China’s Li Na.

On her favourite court surface, Patterson is set to face Priscilla Hon who endured a three-setter on Tuesday against sixth seed Sally Peers. Despite being a set down, she was able to fight back to take command of the match after clinching the critical second set in a close tiebreak.
