The provisional schedule for Hyundai Hopman Cup 2013 has been set following the announcement of a stellar player field at the event launch in Perth on Tuesday.
“There will be some intriguing match-ups at the event this year,” said Hyundai Hopman Cup Event Director Steve Ayles.
“In the first night session former world No.2 Tommy Haas is up against young Bernard Tomic and Perth’s own Casey Dellacqua will meet Andrea Petkovic who will no doubt be keen to get a good start to the year after an injury disrupted 2012.
“In Shanghai last night John Isner defeated Kevin Anderson from South Africa in a three set match with no breaks of serve. Their meeting on day two of Hyundai Hopman Cup can only be described as a battle of the giants, and of course the world is waiting to see the towering mixed doubles pair of Venus Williams and John Isner.
“There are so many other exciting match ups – for example the tie between Spain and France promises to be a fiery encounter for traditional Davis Cup rivals Jo–Wilfried Tsonga and Fernando Verdasco; and with Italy and Germany we’ll see a battle between two Grand Slam champions in Ana Ivanovic and Francesca Schiavone.”
“World No.2 Novak Djokovic is a great entertainer and a big supporter of Hyundai Hopman Cup. I’m looking forward to his match ups against Andreas Seppi, our own Bernard Tomic and Tommy Haas, the ATP comeback story of the year,” Ayles continued.
