Australia’s defeat of Spain in the Junior Davis Cup world finals in Barcelona on Wednesday has put the team in second place going into the final round robin match.

The green-and-gold sit level with No.6 seeds Argentina in the Group B pool standings, and will take on the South American nation in their next match to determine who will qualify for the semifinals of the competition.

The situation is tougher for Australia’s girls, whose 2-1 loss to Mexico relegated them to third position in their pool.

With only one nation advancing from each round-robin group to the semifinal stage, the Junior Fed Cup team must beat No.4 seeds Latvia in their final match on Thursday – most likely without the loss of a single rubber – to have any chance to progressing from the evenly-poised group.
