Australian Jarmila Gajdosova has been knocked out in the first round of the Texas Open on Sunday.

Eighth-seeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea beat Gajdosova 7-6(2) 6-4.

Gajdosova, the world No.99 and a wildcard into the event, fell in one hour and 21 minutes.

Despite putting in a statistically-solid performance and pushing Cirstea throughout the match, Gajdosova has now lost eight of her past 10 matches, including the last four.

Compatriot Casey Dellacqua plays her first round match against another Romanian, Irina-Camelia Begu, on Monday evening in Dallas.
