Australia has finished fifth in the men’s World Group 2 division at the 2012 BNP Paribas Wheelchair World Team Cup, held in South Korea on 21-27 May.
The Australian side of Ben Weekes (Strathfield, NSW), Adam Kellerman (St Ives, NSW) and Keegan Oh Chee (Eastwood, NSW) downed Italy 2-1 in the World Group 2 fifth place play-off to be named as one of the world’s top five teams.
Podium finishers included Thailand (gold), South Africa (silver) and Sri Lanka (bronze), with Germany placing fourth.
The solid World Team Cup campaign has given the Australian men some strong competition and confidence leading into the 2012 London Paralympic Games, which are just over three months away.
The World Team Cup is the wheelchair tennis equivalent of the Davis Cup and Fed Cup.
