Australian qualifier Anastasia Rodionova gained a dubious reward for her first round victory at the Italian Open.

Rodionova’s 6-4 6-4 win over Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan on Tuesday set up a second round meeting with world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki.

Top seed Wozniacki had a bye in the first round.

Ranked No.80 in the world, Rodionova has yet to get past the second round in 11 WTA tournament starts this year.

However she has shown signs of good form on clay recently, qualifying and making the second round at the Madrid Open and again in Rome where she downed China’s Jie Zheng to get into the main draw.
