Jelena Dokic has won through qualifying to reach the main draw of the WTA Paris Open on Tuesday.

The Australian overcame French wildcard Elixane Lechemia 6-4 6-4 in her final round qualifying match.

The win sets up a first round clash with Czech Lucie Safarova on Wednesday.

Dokic made a second round exit at the Australian Open January, losing to Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, but remained positive about the year ahead.

“The positive thing is I have nothing to defend until July with my points,” she said.

“So, [by winning] the first round at the Australian Open, I’m pretty much [assured] French Open main draw already. That’s also a positive.

“I feel good and positive.”

After this week’s event, Dokic intends to play tournaments in the Arab Emirates and Malaysia.
