24 October 2025 | Tennis Victoria

We’re proud to shine a spotlight on Jasper Steed from Eildon Park Tennis Club, as our Community Champion for October 2025, for his incredible contribution to the Blind and Low Vision (BLV) tennis community in Victoria!

Jasper is not only a talented player but also an integral member of the Victoria team, having reached the finals in the Open Doubles B3 category at the 2023 Australian Blind and Vision-Impaired Tennis Championships.

But it’s his work off the court that truly highlights his dedication to tennis. As Jasper explains: “I started really in the blind sport community because of my Dad through playing cricket. So I used to, as a kid, come down with him on Saturdays, watch him play cricket and stayed involved just by talking to people around there and hanging around through him. And then, I started to play my sport when I was 14. I just kept up to date with people throughout that time and then started making my own path in this. And then tennis was just pretty much doing the same, being social and talking to people.”

Jasper doesn’t just play, he coordinates and helps run Friday night tennis sessions at the National Tennis Center. He coordinates the session and helps run the junior session and the league matches. He has also recently joined the BLV League, cementing his role as a key figure in the competitive structure of the sport.

Jasper’s impact continues to grow. He plans to undertake a Tennis Australia coaching course soon, aiming to expand his influence and support other players in the BLV community. This proactive approach shows his commitment to becoming a leader and mentor within the sport.

His dedication, leadership, and coordination are exactly the qualities we love to see, a young person making a real difference to ensure blind and vision-impaired tennis thrives across Victoria.

Well done, Jasper, on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for the positive impact you’re making in our tennis community!
