Tennis Victoria Premier League is back and bigger than ever, with a bold new format set to transform Victoria’s premier showcase of elite team tennis.

On 11 – 13 December 2026, Tennis Victoria Premier League will see four state-based teams battle it out across one epic weekend. The event will bring together leading Australian players in a fast-paced, mixed-team showdown designed for players and fans alike.

Tennis Victoria CEO Kim Kachel said the relaunch marks an exciting new chapter for one of Victoria’s most prestigious team tennis events.

“Tennis Victoria Premier League has a proud history within Victorian tennis, and we’re excited to evolve the competition into a premier showcase of elite team tennis,” Kachel said.

“The new format creates something unique for our players and tennis community. It’s faster, bigger, more entertaining and provides players with a high-quality team environment while giving fans something special to get behind.”

“With State vs State rivalries, a significant prize pool and some of Australia’s best players involved, we’re confident this will become a highlight of the summer tennis calendar.”

Leading the Victorian team will be former world No. 20 and Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club member Dasha Saville, who will return to competition following maternity leave and captain the Victorian team in the inaugural State vs State format.

​Dasha previously competed in Tennis Victoria Premier League and said the competition felt like the perfect event for her return.

“Tennis Victoria Premier League has been a competition I’ve enjoyed being part of, so when I saw the new format and what the event is becoming, I knew I wanted to be involved,” Dasha said.

“Coming back to competition is really exciting, and having the opportunity to captain Victoria in a State vs State event with so much on the line makes it even more special.”

“I think players and fans are going to love the atmosphere. Team tennis brings a different energy and I’m looking forward to helping lead Victoria this December.”

Adding another layer of intrigue to the competition, Dasha could find herself up against her husband, former professional player Luke Saville, who will represent South Australia despite now calling Melbourne home.

A current member of Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club, Luke said the opportunity to represent his home state was one he couldn’t pass up.

“Melbourne is home now but South Australia is where I grew up and where my tennis journey began. When the opportunity came up to represent South Australia, it was something I was really keen to do.”

“The State vs State format gives players and fans something to rally behind. There’s genuine pride involved and a healthy rivalry that will make for a great weekend of tennis.”

The revamped competition moves away from its traditional club-based structure and introduces a State vs State format, creating new rivalries and a fresh representative pathway for elite players.

With a $100,000 prize pool on offer, significantly increasing the stakes, the competition will kick off the summer of tennis in Melbourne and deliver a new level of excitement, competition and entertainment.

Confirmed states battling it out in December include Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland setting the stage for a new era of elite State vs State rivalries that fans can rally behind.

While players will compete for their states, Tennis Victoria Premier League will continue to recognise and celebrate the clubs that support elite tennis development, with players acknowledged alongside their home clubs throughout the competition.
