Andale School is a small specialist school with just twenty students and were elated to receive a Sporting Schools grant after their first application. This allowed the school to run a tennis program in Term 1.

Tennis Victoria connected Andale with local coach Danny Oltvay who delivered a fantastic 4-week program, even bringing along students that he coaches from Xavier College who had a great time engaging with the kids in the final session.

The program culminated in a family tennis evening at Kew Tennis Club funded by the Movement Disorder Foundation. All the students, staff, siblings and parents were invited to share time on court engaged in a variety of tennis activities lead by Tennis Victoria staff followed by pizza and a drink in the club house.

After the success of this program, Andale is now planning to apply for grants each year, and is committed to running a four-week tennis program with a local coach. They are also hoping to take the students back to Kew Tennis Club to play once a term.

We’d like to thank the staff and families at Andale school for embracing the sport of tennis, and to coach Danny for his fantastic program.

Thank you also to Kew TC for hosting the family tennis evening and welcoming the students, staff and their families.

We were lucky enough to receive some beautiful pieces of artwork from the students, which you can see below.

Thank you Andale, we can’t wait to see you back on court soon!
